The team at Building Bridges is comprised of teachers and therapists who are passionate about early childhood development and share a common vision. Our teachers have several years of preschool education experience and regularly participate in continuing education classes. Our teachers will be using American Sign Language (ASL) in their classrooms as part of our total communication model.
Our curriculum is deeply grounded in social emotional developmental learning theory. We believe in the importance of understanding the unique learning abilities of each child and are dedicated to supporting their individual path to learning through developmentally appropriate multi-sensory activities. Our curriculum is deeply grounded in social emotional developmental learning theory. We believe in the importance of understanding the unique learning abilities of each child and are dedicated to supporting their individual path to learning through developmentally appropriate multi-sensory activities. We believe that children learn best when allowed to freely explore their environment and build social relationships through play. Because Building Bridges is affiliated with Milestones Pediatric Therapy, we are able to provide a unique learning experience for your child, which will include activities designed by occupational and speech therapists to facilitate social communication skills, language, sensory processing, motor, and early literacy skills.
It is our mission to provide a preschool learning experience which allows children to learn in their own unique way at their own pace through movement, play, and social relationships.

Current research indicates that hearing children who learn sign language demonstrate improved skills in the areas of cognition, spelling, vocabulary, non-verbal communication, fine motor development, and classroom behaviors.
We believe children who are part of the deaf/hard of hearing community in Spokane deserve to have a preschool learning experience that provides access to the primary language used at home in an integrated setting with hearing children.
Signing is FUN and kids love learning it!
Play-based approaches promote the deepest kind of learning by cultivating curiousity, creativity, and self-directed learning through hands on exploration and problem-solving.
Decades of research clearly shows that play is the most effective means in which young children learn, develop social skills, and regulate their emotions.
A child's social skills in the early years are a significant indicator of future school success.
